Shri Dharmendra Pradhan participated in a webinar on enhancing steel usage in the country

New Delhi: Participated in a webinar on “Ispati Irada: Enhancing steel usage in the country” with officials of Ministry of Steel, Government of India, industry leaders, academicians and other stakeholders. Enhancing steel usage with focus on construction and infrastructure sectors”. Minister of State for Steel Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, Secretary, Steel, senior officers from the Ministry of Steel, subject experts, industry leaders, academicians, researchers, large users and regulators also participated in the webinar.

Significant increase in the steel production capacity, there is immense potential upside in terms of enhancing our per-capita steel consumption which is currently about one-third of the global average.
 
Initiation of 'Ispati Irada' is to promote appropriate usage of steel in the country. ‘Ispati’ is not just a material; it is a state of mind. India has an 'Ispati Irada' to be an inclusive developed nation. A manifestation of the Government’s determination to strengthen the economy, ameliorate the condition of the poor, improve environment and enhance employment opportunities.
 
 It will lead the country’s economic growth, enhance livelihood, protect our environment, and improve the lives of our poor. Enhancing steel usage can have a positive bearing on all of these.
 
 Dharmendra Debendra Pradhan (born 26 June 1969) is an Indian politician and currently the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Minister of Steel in the Second Modi Ministry. He was previously also the Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in the First Modi Ministry.
 
The Government has announced National Infrastructure Pipeline of Rs. 103 lakh crore in the infrastructure sector, and this will lead to enhanced steel demand. Ministry of Steel is already in talks with other departments to increase steel usage.
