New Delhi: In a significant move to strengthen India’s power transmission network, POWERGRID Ltd has received board approval for an investment of ₹705.30 Crore for the procurement of cold spare transformers and reactors, as approved in the 77th Northern Regional Power Committee (NRPC) meeting.

The approval was accorded during the board meeting of POWERGRID held on March 19, 2026. The project is scheduled for implementation over a period of 30 months from the date of approval.

This strategic investment aims to enhance the reliability and resilience of India’s power transmission infrastructure, ensuring timely backup and operational readiness of critical transformers and reactors in the Northern region. The move aligns with POWERGRID’s ongoing mission to strengthen the national electricity grid and support uninterrupted power supply across India.
