Coal despatches to the power sector have posted a clear upward trend over the past four days. Daily rake loading moved from 370 on 3 September 2026 to 444 on 6 September 2026, adding 74 rakes in total.

New Delhi, 7 September: Coal despatches to the power sector have posted a clear upward trend over the past four days. Daily rake loading moved from 370 on 3 September 2026 to 444 on 6 September 2026, adding 74 rakes in total.

The single-day jump of 31 rakes on 6 September marked the strongest gain in this period. The improvement comes from coordinated efforts by Coal India Limited, its subsidiaries, SCCL, and captive mine operators. Nearly every major producer recorded higher loading on 6 September compared with the previous day.

Key gains recorded on 6 September 2026

  • MCL registered the largest rise, adding 12 rakes to reach 111 rakes a day.
  • Captive block loading increased by 6 rakes to 72.

  • BCCL improved by 8 rakes to 25.
  • NCL rose by 3 rakes to 35.
  • Private washeries and goods sheds gained 3 rakes to 42.
  • CCL and SECL added 2 and 1 rakes, respectively, taking their loading to 36 and 46.
  • ECL and WCL maintained their earlier levels of 23 and 29 rakes.

Total CIL siding loading touched 305 rakes on 6 September, 26 higher than the day before.

Thermal stations holding coal stocks below 25 percent of the normative requirement remain under close watch. Corrective supply steps are already in place at these plants. The Ministry of Coal and Coal India Limited have reiterated their focus on sustaining the recent improvement in rake loading so that power sector demand is met without disruption.

The four-day rise to 444 rakes a day shows that steady operational effort across the public sector and captive producers is translating into higher coal movement to power stations.
