Paris, June 18, 2026: Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), the defence subsidiary of Bharat Forge Ltd, has signed a strategic partnership with US-based military vehicle manufacturer AM General to jointly offer next-generation mounted artillery gun systems to global armed forces.

The agreement was signed during the Eurosatory defence exposition in Paris, according to a statement issued by Bharat Forge on Thursday.

Under the partnership, the two companies aim to address the requirements of modern armies by offering compact and mobile 155mm mounted artillery systems designed for operations across diverse terrain and weather conditions.

Proposal submitted for US Army programme

As part of the collaboration, AM General has offered a proposal to participate in the US Army's Mobile Tactical Cannon (MTC) programme.

According to the companies, the proposal envisages the development and delivery of a 155mm Mobile Tactical Cannon solution based on KSSL's Mounted Artillery Gun (MArG) platform architecture. Delivery is planned in 2027, subject to selection under the programme.

MArG platform features

The MArG system integrates a 52-calibre 155mm cannon with patented Soft Recoil Technology (SRT), automated load-assist capabilities and an all-weather fire control system.

The platform is capable of firing standard high-explosive projectiles at ranges exceeding 40 kilometres and can carry more than 20 projectiles and propellant charges onboard.

According to the company, the recoil mitigation technology enables a lighter vehicle architecture and reduces stress on the overall weapon system.

Management commentary

Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, said the partnership reflects confidence in the company's artillery capabilities and its focus on delivering advanced defence solutions.

John Chadbourne, President and Chief Executive Officer of AM General, said the collaboration is aimed at providing advanced capabilities for allied forces through the integration of soft recoil technology with KSSL's artillery platforms.
