BHEL bags EPC contracts worth Rs 13,000-15,000 crore from MPPGC

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) gained after securing EPC contracts from MPPGCL for two supercritical thermal power plants in Madhya Pradesh. The projects, worth Rs 13,000-15,000 crore, include Amarkantak and Satpura units.

Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) advanced 1.35% to Rs 237 after the company received a letter of award from Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company (MPPGCL) for two supercritical thermal power projects in the state.

Project Details and Scope of Work

The contracts are for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) packages for:

  • 1x660 MW Amarkantak Unit 6

  • 1x660 MW Satpura Unit 12

The scope of work for BHEL includes the supply of equipment, civil works, and erection & commissioning for both plants. The combined order value is estimated to be between Rs 13,000 crore and Rs 15,000 crore (excluding taxes and duties). Both projects are expected to be completed within 57 months from the Notification of Award (NOA).

BHEL is an integrated power plant equipment manufacturer involved in the design, engineering, manufacturing, erection, testing, commissioning, and servicing of a diverse range of products and systems across various sectors.

In terms of financial performance, the company's consolidated net loss widened to Rs 445.50 crore in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026 (Q1 FY26), compared to a net loss of Rs 211.40 crore in Q1 FY25. Revenue from operations showed a marginal year-on-year (YoY) increase of 0.03%, reaching Rs 5,486.91 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2025.
