CMPDI Team visits Kalakote Coal Field Kashmir for Coal Exploration
New Delhi: A team of geologists and mining engineers from the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDI) recently visited the Kalakote Coalfields and nearby areas (Mahogala, Metka, Chakkar etc.) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir for coal exploration. The team conducted a Reconnaitory Geological Survey of the area.
CMPDI visit is part of a larger effort to assess the coal potential of Jammu and Kashmir. The team's findings will be used to plan future coal exploration activities in the state and a positive step towards the development of the state's coal resources.
The team's findings will help to identify areas where further exploration is warranted. The development of Jammu and Kashmir's coal resources could have a significant impact on the state's economy.
The Kalakote Coal Field is located in the foothills of the Himalayas and is known to contain reserves of Semi-anthracite coal. Semi-Anthracite coal is a high-grade coal that is low in ash and sulfur content. It is used in a variety of industrial applications, such as power generation, steelmaking, and cement manufacturing.
