Bank of Baroda Launches UPI Credit Line for Women SHG Members in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, 21 February 2026: In a significant step towards women empowerment and financial inclusion, Bank of Baroda, in collaboration with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), launched a pilot project to enable Credit Line on UPI for women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs).
The event was graced by Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, along with Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, and Smt. D. Anasuya Seethakka, Telangana State Cabinet Minister for Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Women & Child Welfare. Other dignitaries included Shri N. Sridhar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Panchayati Raj & Rural Development, Telangana; Shri Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development; Shri T. Anil Kumar, Additional Secretary, Rural Development, Telangana; Ms. Sohini Rajola, Executive Director, NPCI; and Shri Shajan Babu V.B., General Manager, Bank of Baroda. Representatives from NABARD, RBI, Asian Development Bank, and SHG members from multiple states also attended.
The initiative will allow women SHG members to access instant credit through UPI, facilitating smoother transactions and boosting entrepreneurial activities in rural India. This move underscores Bank of Baroda’s dedication to digital innovation, financial empowerment for women, and inclusive growth across the country.
“Financial inclusion is not just a policy, it’s an empowerment tool. With UPI-enabled credit, women SHG members will have easier access to funds and greater control over their economic activities,” said a Bank of Baroda spokesperson.
