MECL CMD Meets HCL CMD in Kolkata to Strengthen Mineral Exploration Collaboration
Kolkata, March 09, 2026: Shri I. D. Narayan, Chairman & Managing Director of Mineral Exploration & Consultancy Limited (MECL), held a courtesy meeting with Shri Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), at the HCL Corporate Office in Kolkata today.
Hindustan Copper Limited, India’s only vertically integrated, government-owned copper producer, plays a critical role in the nation’s copper exploration and production ecosystem. The meeting focused on strengthening ongoing collaboration between the two organizations in mineral exploration.
As part of the partnership, MECL is currently undertaking exploratory drilling in the Indian Copper Complex (Kendadih Area) to enhance resource assessment in the region. Additionally, under the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), MECL has commenced exploration at the Malanjkhand Copper area tailing dam to evaluate the potential presence of critical and strategic minerals within mine tailings.
The discussions also explored future collaboration opportunities in resource augmentation, advanced mineral assessment, and strategic mineral exploration, reinforcing the synergy between MECL and HCL in supporting India’s mineral security initiatives.
