Coal Ministry signs Coal Gasification Plant Development & Production Agreement with CGIL
Ministry of Coal and Coal Gas India Limited (CGIL) signed a Coal Gasification Plant Development & Production Agreement, marking a significant step towards cleaner energy and independence. Shri Debasish Nanda, Chairman, CGIL & Director (Business Development), Coal India Limited, received the agreement from Shri Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary, Ministry of Coal.
New Delhi: On 11 April, 2025, in New Delhi, the Ministry of Coal and Coal Gas India Limited (CGIL) signed a Coal Gasification Plant Development & Production Agreement, marking a significant step towards cleaner energy and independence. This initiative reaffirms the Ministry’s commitment to diversifying coal usage, reducing import dependence, and advancing sustainable energy technologies.
CGIL, a joint venture of CIL & GAIL, is setting up a Coal Gasification Project in West Bengal to produce Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG). The Ministry is extending financial assistance of Rs 1,350 crore under Category I of the approved Incentive Scheme for Coal Gasification.
