GAIL Doubles Jamnagar-Loni LPG Pipeline Capacity to 6.5 MMTPA
New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited has reported a resilient operational and financial performance for FY2025 despite facing a highly volatile global environment shaped by the Russia-Ukraine conflict and escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
Speaking on the company’s annual performance, Shri Deepak Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of GAIL (India) Limited, said the energy major successfully navigated global disruptions through operational discipline, supply reliability, and strategic policy support from the Government of India.
“The year was marked by a challenging and complex global backdrop, beginning with the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and evolving geopolitical developments including the onset of the West Asian crisis towards the later part of the year. Despite these headwinds, supported by timely policy interventions by the Government, GAIL delivered a resilient operational and financial performance,” Shri Gupta stated.
GAIL Adds 2,000 Km Pipeline Network, Achieves Record LPG Transmission
Highlighting the company’s operational achievements, Shri Gupta revealed that GAIL added nearly 2,000 kilometers of pipeline infrastructure during FY2025, significantly strengthening India’s gas transportation network.
The company also achieved its highest-ever LPG transmission volume of 4.6 MMTPA (Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum), underlining the growing demand for energy infrastructure and efficient fuel transportation across the country.
In a major expansion move, GAIL is currently doubling the capacity of the Jamnagar-Loni LPG pipeline from existing levels to 6.5 MMTPA. The expansion is expected to enhance transportation efficiency, improve energy accessibility, and support India’s growing LPG consumption demand.
According to industry experts, the pipeline capacity expansion will play a critical role in strengthening India’s energy security while reducing logistical bottlenecks in fuel distribution.
GAIL Strengthens Renewable Energy Portfolio Under Strategy 2030
As part of its long-term Strategy 2030 roadmap and net-zero commitments, GAIL is aggressively investing in clean and sustainable energy projects.
Shri Gupta highlighted that the company’s Board has approved investments in multiple renewable energy projects, including:
-
Approximately 700 MW of solar power capacity
-
Around 178 MW of wind energy capacity
-
Six Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants with a combined production capacity of nearly 95 TPD
These investments reinforce GAIL’s commitment to accelerating India’s energy transition while building a future-ready and sustainable energy portfolio.
The company’s focus on renewable energy aligns with India’s broader climate goals and the government’s push toward cleaner fuel alternatives and reduced carbon emissions.
Operational Continuity and Cost Discipline Helped GAIL Navigate Volatility
Despite fluctuations in global energy prices and supply chain disruptions, GAIL maintained operational continuity throughout the year.
“Our teams remained focused on ensuring operational continuity, cost discipline, and supply reliability, enabling the Company to effectively navigate a volatile market environment,” Shri Gupta added.
Industry analysts believe GAIL’s diversified business strategy and infrastructure expansion helped the company maintain stability even during periods of market uncertainty.
GAIL’s Future Outlook Remains Strong
With expanding pipeline infrastructure, rising LPG transmission volumes, and large-scale renewable energy investments, GAIL is positioning itself as a key player in India’s evolving energy ecosystem.
The company’s strategic focus on sustainability, cleaner energy solutions, and infrastructure modernization is expected to drive long-term growth while supporting India’s energy security objectives.
As India continues its transition toward a low-carbon economy, GAIL’s investments in solar, wind, and compressed biogas projects are likely to strengthen its leadership position in the country’s energy sector.
