New Delhi:  Union Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt presided over a high-level meeting in Chennai with Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam. The two parties discussed the State's coal needs for the power sector during the summer and monsoon seasons.

The State's anticipated power demand, the supply of coal and lignite, and the proactive steps needed to meet peak load conditions during the summer and monsoon seasons were the main topics of discussion, according to an official press release from NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL).

Issues pertaining to land acquisition, the facilitation needed to promote overburden to M-Sand in Neyveli mines, lignite mine land acquisition, the opening of Neyveli airport, and the establishment of a joint venture between Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited and NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) were also covered.

It is anticipated that the State's proactive and forward-thinking approach during the meeting will greatly reduce supply-side difficulties, guarantee Tamil Nadu has dependable, reasonably priced, and sustainable power, and address the NLCIL's problems.

 The meeting was attended by Alby John Varghese, Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited, Sanjeev Kumar Kassi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Mukesh Choudhary, Director (Marketing), Coal India Limited, and Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NLCIL.
