New Delhi: NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has launched a fleet of 47 electric vehicles (EVs) to strengthen sustainable township management and improve door-to-door solid waste collection services in Neyveli.

The fleet was flagged off by Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India Limited, in the presence of Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR), Shri Vaidyanathan, Chief General Manager, Township Administration, along with company executives, staff members, union representatives, workmen, contract workers, and members of the public.

 

Focus on Sustainable Waste Management

The newly introduced electric vehicles will be deployed for efficient collection of municipal solid waste across township areas. The initiative is aimed at promoting environmentally sustainable waste management practices while reducing carbon emissions associated with conventional fuel-powered vehicles.

NLCIL stated that the use of electric mobility in waste collection operations is expected to improve service efficiency and support the organisation’s broader sustainability goals.

Women Workforce to Operate EV Fleet

A notable feature of the initiative is the deployment of an empowered contract women workforce for operating the electric vehicle fleet. The company highlighted that the project combines environmental responsibility with social inclusion and women empowerment.

Officials noted that the initiative reflects NLC India’s continued efforts towards creating cleaner urban spaces, improving citizen convenience, and promoting inclusive growth within township operations.
