ONGC Officials Visit Cochin Shipyard for Sagar Kiran Jack-Up Rig Repair Review at New Drydock Facility

Kochi, June 11, 2026: A senior delegation from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) visited Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) to review ongoing repair and maintenance work on the jack-up rig Sagar Kiran.

The visit was led by Shri Vikram Saxena, Director (T&FS), ONGC, accompanied by Shri Amit Desai, Executive Director, ONGC, along with other senior officials.

First Jack-Up Rig at CSL’s New Mega Drydock

The Sagar Kiran holds strategic significance as it is the first jack-up rig to be drydocked at CSL’s newly inaugurated large drydock facility.

The drydock was inaugurated earlier by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, marking a major milestone in India’s shipbuilding and offshore engineering capabilities.

Joint Project Review and Onboard Inspection

During the visit, the ONGC delegation conducted a detailed project review and onboard assessment of repair and maintenance activities being carried out at the vessel.

Senior officials from Cochin Shipyard also participated in discussions, providing updates on progress, technical execution, and project timelines.

The review focused on ensuring quality standards, operational efficiency, and adherence to offshore engineering requirements.

The project highlights the long-standing collaboration between ONGC and Cochin Shipyard Limited, which spans more than four decades.
