SECL Celebrates 41st Foundation Day; CMD Vows to Reclaim No.1 Position
SECL celebrated its 41st Foundation Day at Bilaspur HQ with senior leadership, former CMDs, trade representatives and employees in attendance. CMD Shri Harish Duhan announced the goal to regain SECL’s position as India’s No.1 coal company.

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) celebrated its 41st Foundation Day with great enthusiasm on 25 November 2025 at its Headquarters in Bilaspur. The event was graced by Shri Harish Duhan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), along with several distinguished dignitaries including Independent Directors Shri Shyam Agrawal and Shri Gajanand Devara Asoli, Director (Technical-Operations) Shri N. Franklin Jayakumar, Director (HR) Shri Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) Shri D. Sunil Kumar, and Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Himanshu Jain. Many former CMDs, former Directors, trade union representatives, board members, department heads and employees from various regions were also present.
Addressing the gathering at the newly constructed auditorium, CMD Shri Harish Duhan said:
“Since its establishment in 1985, SECL has been a strong pillar of India’s energy security, and this strength will continue to grow. SECL’s legacy is full of record-breaking achievements, and our goal is to once again make SECL the No. 1 coal company in the country. I firmly believe that Team SECL is capable of overcoming every challenge. For us, safe mining, sustainable development and the welfare of the coalfield family remain top priority. SECL is not only a hub of energy production but also a leading contributor to building a green and self-reliant India.”
The program began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony by the Chief Guest and dignitaries. Guests were honored with shawls, coconuts and floral bouquets. Prior to the main event, the company flag was hoisted, followed by wreath-laying at the martyrs’ memorial and miner statue.
Awards were distributed to winners across various categories by the Chief Guest and committee members.
Shri CDN Singh, General Manager (Finance) delivered the welcome address. A short film on SECL was screened, and the new SECL website was launched during the event.
Anchoring responsibilities were handled by Shri Varun Sharma (Manager-HR/OS) and Ms. C. Anuradha (Deputy Manager-E&M).
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Dilip Singh, Sr. Manager (Rajbhasha) and the National Anthem.
