SECR Officials Review Coal Dispatch Infrastructure at SECL’s Raigarh Area

Rajgarh: Senior officials of South East Central Railway (SECR) visited the Raigarh Area of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) to assess coal dispatch infrastructure and explore ways to strengthen rail-based coal evacuation.

During the visit, Jasmeet Singh Bindra, Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM), and Vishal Garg, Senior Divisional Operations Manager (Sr. DOM), inspected key coal loading facilities in the region.

Inspection of Key Coal Loading Facilities

The SECR officials inspected the Chhal Silo, Baroud Silo, and Baroud Siding, which are important infrastructure points for loading and dispatching coal through the railway network.

The inspection focused on evaluating the current loading capacity, operational efficiency, and logistics arrangements at these facilities. Officials also reviewed the mechanisms in place for handling coal rakes and the readiness of infrastructure to support increased dispatch volumes.

Discussions on Increasing Rake Supply

During the visit, the SECR team held discussions with SECL officials regarding the possibility of increasing rake supply in the coming months. The discussions emphasized strengthening coordination between the railway and coal company to ensure smoother and faster coal transportation.

Officials also reviewed the operational preparedness and infrastructure requirements needed to support higher coal evacuation through rail, which remains the primary mode for bulk coal transport.

SECL Officials Brief Railways Team

Manoj Kumar, General Manager of SECL’s Raigarh Area, accompanied the visiting SECR officials throughout the inspection. He briefed them on the operational status of the facilities, the coal loading process, and the measures being taken to streamline dispatch operations.

The visit is part of ongoing efforts by both SECR and SECL to enhance logistics efficiency, improve coordination, and ensure timely supply of coal to power plants and other consumers across the country.
