Shri Chintamani Latkar Retires as General Manager from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders

MUMBAI: Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), India’s premier defense public sector undertaking, on Wednesday announced a change in its senior management. Shri Chintamani Latkar, General Manager and a key member of the Senior Management Personnel, has officially retired from the services of the company.

Superannuation of a Key Executive

In a regulatory filing submitted to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the Mumbai-headquartered shipbuilder stated that Mr. Latkar’s retirement is effective from December 31, 2025. His departure comes upon attaining the age of superannuation.

The company issued the disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, which mandates listed entities to inform investors about changes in key management personnel.

Legacy at Mazagon Dock

Mazagon Dock, often referred to as "Shipbuilder to the Nation," is a crucial arm of India’s maritime defense. During his tenure as General Manager, Shri Chintamani Latkar played a significant role in overseeing complex shipbuilding projects. MDL is currently involved in the construction of sophisticated warships and submarines for the Indian Navy, including the Kalvari-class submarines and stealth frigates.

Market and Compliance Update

The official statement was signed by Lalatendu Acharya, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of MDL. The stock market was duly informed of the transition on the final day of the year.

As a Mini-Ratna Category-I company, MDL continues to be a focal point for the 'Make in India' initiative in the defense sector. While the company has not yet named a direct successor for the post, the transition is expected to be handled through internal administrative protocols to ensure the continuity of ongoing strategic projects.
