Patna: New Delhi: Union Bank of India has taken a significant step to strengthen financial inclusion for women-led community institutions in Bihar.

The Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (JEEViKA), under the Rural Development Department, Government of Bihar. The partnership is designed to improve access to credit for Self Help Groups (SHGs), Village Organisations and Cluster Level Federations across the state.

Leadership Presence

The MoU was formalised in the presence of:

  • Shri Asheesh Pandey, Managing Director & CEO, Union Bank of India

  • Shri Himanshu Sharma, IAS, CEO, JEEViKA

  • Other senior officials from the Bank

 

Why This Matters

The collaboration aims to channel institutional credit more effectively to grassroots-level women-led institutions that play a central role in rural livelihoods and community development in Bihar. By working closely with JEEViKA, Union Bank seeks to expand its reach and support sustainable economic activity at the village and cluster level.

This initiative aligns with the Bank’s broader focus on deepening its presence in rural markets and supporting government-led livelihood programmes.
