Delivering the presidential address, Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) and (P&P) (Addl.Charge) called for transparency and ethical practices in all our activities. He traced the evolution of the basic tenets of Vigilance from being punitive to becoming preventive and now turning into participative vigilance where the concept of transparency and accountability extended to all stakeholders. He appreciated the Vigilance Department for creating an environment where there is no fear psychosis and decision paralysis. He stressed upon the importance of technology in systemic reforms like the GeM module for procurement. He also reiterated the need for ethical leadership and education for a balanced decision-making. Watchful interventions by the Vigilance Department will ensure transparency and accountability, he concluded.

Thiru Appakannu Govindarajan CVO/NLCIL who delivered the key-note address at the event lauded the concept of participative vigilance. He called upon children to question ideas and beliefs before accepting them. He asserted that even as we, as a nation, nurture the ambition of becoming a superpower, we should ensure that every person has access to basic resources like water and fuel. This inclusive growth would benefit not only the next generation but the entire mankind. All the activities carried out during the Vigilance Awareness Week should be a continuous effort by involving all the stakeholders such as the public, students, and teachers.

Director (HR) Samir Swarup, in his address, stated that the guidelines from Vigilance Department should improve the system so that we can act with conviction and without fear.
