NHPC share in focus as company shares Update on Subansiri Lower HE Project (2000 MW)
NHPC Ltd to commission 3 units of the 2000 MW Subansiri project by June 2025, rest by May 2026, pending NDSA clearance.

Hydroelectric Power Giant, NHPC Ltd shares are in focus as the board shares an update in respect of Subansiri Lower HE Project (2000 MW), Arunachal Pradesh/Assam
The company shares an exchange filing updates which stated, it is now anticipated that process of commissioning of 3 units (250 MW each) of Subansiri Lower HE Project shall be taken up from June, 2025 subject to receipt of clearance from National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) and remaining units i.e. 5 units of 250 MW each is expected to be completed by May, 2026 in phased manners.
Three units of the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project developed on the Subansiri river located on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in Dhemaji district were expected to be functioning by March next year, as per the officials.
The project will supply electricity to 17 states, including Rajasthan. The project is said to be India's largest conventional power project.
According to officials, a total of eight units will be installed which will provide power to various states, including Assam (533 MW) and Arunachal Pradesh (274 MW).
Meanwhile, other Northeastern states (Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Mizoram) will get 198 MW power.
Additionally, the project would provide 387 MW of electricity to northern states (Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh) and 613 MW to western states (Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Goa).
Shares of NHPC closed at Rs 87.50, up by 1.26 percent at BSE.
