Central Electricity Authority approves discontinuation of four units of NTPC Tanda Thermal Power Station

The NTPC Tanda Thermal Power Station is a coal-based power plant located in the Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, India, approximately 22 km from Akbarpur.


Shares of NTPC Ltd are in focus as the company has announced that operations of 110 MW of NTPC Tanda Thermal Power Station have been discontinued with effect from 01.09.2025. The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has granted the approval.

According to the exchange filing, consequent upon the due approval of the competent authority and communication dated 04.09.2025 to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), it is hereby informed that operations of NTPC Tanda Thermal Power Station, Stage-I, comprising of four units of 110 MW each, have been permanently discontinued w.e.f. 01.09.2025.

The NTPC Tanda Thermal Power Station is a coal-based power plant located in the Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, India, approximately 22 km from Akbarpur.

The project has been established as one of the largest thermal plants in the country and plays a vital role in supplying electricity. It is situated on the banks of the Saryu River, drawing water from the Tanda Pump Canal for its operations.

Shares of NTPC Ltd closed at Rs 330.30, down by 1.18% at BSE.
