Ahmedabad, March 15, 2026: Adani Power Limited has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the long-term supply of 1,600 MW of thermal power, marking a significant addition to the company’s growing power supply portfolio.

The award follows a competitive bidding process in which Adani Power emerged as the lowest-tariff bidder, quoting a combined tariff of ₹5.30 per kWh. The power will be supplied under a 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA), with commercial supply expected to commence from financial year 2030-31.

Strategic Win in India’s Growing Power Market

The new contract reflects the rising demand for stable and reliable electricity as India continues to expand its energy infrastructure. The project will source power from one of Adani Power’s upcoming ultra-supercritical thermal power plants, designed for higher efficiency and lower emissions compared to conventional plants.

According to the company, the agreement strengthens its position as India’s largest private sector thermal power producer and supports the country’s goal of expanding thermal power capacity to 100 GW by 2032.

During FY 2025-26 alone, Adani Power has secured five long-term PSA bids totaling 10,400 MW, demonstrating strong demand for its generation capacity.

Strong Pipeline and Capacity Expansion

Adani Power currently operates 18.15 GW of power generation capacity, most of which is already tied to medium-to-long-term supply contracts. The company is also implementing a major expansion plan to increase total capacity to 41.87 GW by FY 2031-32.

The expansion program involves investments of nearly ₹2 lakh crore, aimed at meeting India’s rapidly growing electricity demand driven by industrial growth, urbanization, and rising household consumption.

Ensuring Fuel Security

The MSEDCL tender includes a pre-determined coal linkage, which ensures stable fuel availability for the project. This arrangement is expected to support reliable electricity generation and maintain competitive tariffs over the long term.

Supporting Economic Growth

Beyond power generation, the project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities during the construction phase and stimulate industrial demand across multiple sectors.

With over 55% of its upcoming 23.8 GW pipeline already secured under long-term contracts, Adani Power is moving closer to its strategy of locking most of its future capacity under stable, long-term agreements.
