ACC Appoints Alok Tripathi as Joint Secretary in Petroleum Ministry; A. Amarnath Named OSD
Mumbai: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of two senior officers to key positions in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, according to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Alok Tripathi Appointed Joint Secretary
Alok Tripathi, an officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) 1999 batch, has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
His tenure will be five years from the date he assumes charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Tripathi will replace Asheesh Joshi, an IAS officer of the 2006 Uttarakhand cadre, who previously held the position.
A. Amarnath Appointed OSD at Joint Secretary Level
In another appointment, A. Amarnath, a 2006 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Joint Secretary level in the same ministry.
Amarnath will hold the position for a tenure of three years or until further orders, starting from the date he assumes office.
Strategic Role in India’s Energy Administration
The appointments come at a time when the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is overseeing major initiatives related to energy security, oil and gas exploration, and India’s transition towards cleaner energy sources.
Senior bureaucratic appointments at the Joint Secretary level play a crucial role in policy formulation, regulatory oversight, and coordination between government and the energy sector.
The order approving these appointments was issued by the Department of Personnel and Training under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, following clearance from the ACC.
