Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited has officially released a major recruitment notification for multiple positions across systems, operations, and civil departments for its Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Surat Metro projects. The recruitment drive reflects the corporation’s continued expansion and operational strengthening of metro rail infrastructure in Gujarat. GMRC, a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat, is responsible for implementing Ahmedabad Metro Phase I & II and Surat Metro Phase I, along with their operations and maintenance. The new hiring initiative aims to bring experienced professionals into key technical and managerial roles on contract, deputation, and post-superannuation basis.

The notification includes vacancies ranging from General Manager to Section Engineer and Supervisor roles. One of the most prominent openings is the position of General Manager (Traction) for the Surat Metro project, offering an attractive IDA pay scale of ₹1,20,000–₹2,80,000 with an approximate monthly CTC of ₹3.4 lakh. The role requires graduate engineers in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics disciplines with significant experience in electric traction, HV power systems, and metro or railway infrastructure. Applicants from PSUs, government organizations, or private industries must possess extensive executive-level experience, highlighting the senior nature of this role.

Several Deputy General Manager positions have also been announced in operations, signalling, traction, and electrical & mechanical departments. These roles offer a pay scale of ₹70,000–₹2,00,000 and require at least 8–10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in metro rail, railways, or related infrastructure sectors. Candidates must be well-versed in metro operations, safety regulations, train management, and system maintenance. These positions are critical for the operational readiness and efficiency of the Surat Metro network.

At the mid-management level, GMRC is hiring multiple Assistant Managers across operations, rolling stock, signalling, traction, E&M, and civil track disciplines. With an approximate CTC of ₹1.2 lakh per month, these roles are designed for professionals with 5–7 years of experience in metro rail, railway PSUs, or reputed private organizations. The responsibilities include planning, testing, commissioning, contract administration, and maintenance of metro systems. The recruitment highlights GMRC’s focus on strengthening technical leadership across its growing metro infrastructure.

The notification also includes opportunities at the engineering and supervisory level, including Section Engineers and Supervisors in operations, telecom, signalling, traction, rolling stock, E&M, and civil track maintenance. These roles offer a revised IDA scale of ₹40,000–₹1,25,000 and require a minimum of five years of relevant experience. The positions are crucial for ensuring daily metro operations, system reliability, and infrastructure maintenance across Gujarat’s metro projects.

The recruitment process will involve personal interviews, document verification, and medical examination. GMRC has stated that preference will be given to candidates with prior metro or railway experience and those familiar with the Gujarati language or who have worked in Gujarat for at least three years. Selected candidates may be posted in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, or other GMRC project locations within the state.

Interested candidates must apply online through the official GMRC website before the deadline of 3 June 2026. Applicants are required to submit detailed documentation, including educational certificates, experience letters, pay details, and Form-16 for private sector candidates. The corporation has emphasized that incomplete applications or incorrect information may lead to rejection, highlighting the importance of accurate submissions.

This recruitment drive demonstrates GMRC’s commitment to expanding Gujarat’s metro network and strengthening its workforce with experienced professionals. As metro projects continue to grow across India, the hiring initiative represents a significant opportunity for engineers and metro professionals seeking leadership and technical roles in one of the country’s rapidly developing urban transit systems.
