Railway Board Invites Applications for Director (Operations) at CRIS

New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), Government of India, has issued Vacancy Notice No. 10/2026 (R) dated 17 February 2026 for the post of Director (Operations) at the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). The position is based in New Delhi and will be filled through Deputation/Absorption/Direct Recruitment.

Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) – An IT arm of the Ministry of Railways delivering core railway IT systems across India.

Post: Director (Operations) – 01 Vacancy
Location: New Delhi
Pay Scale: ₹1,82,200 – ₹2,24,100 (Level 15, 7th CPC)
Mode of Appointment: Absorption / Deputation / Direct Recruitment
Tenure: 5 years or until superannuation (60 years), whichever earlier
Age Limit:
- 56 years (Internal candidates)
- 55 years (Others)

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

BE/BTech in Electronics & Communication / IT / Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Electrical & Electronics / Electronics
OR
MCA from a recognized institution
Central Government/Armed Forces/All India Services officers may be exempted if possessing relevant IT experience.

Experience

Central Govt/Armed Forces/All India Services: Senior-level management experience in large organizations with exposure to IT system design and implementation.
CPSE/SPSE/Private Sector: Minimum 20 years’ experience in IT/System Implementation, including at least 3 years at senior management level in the past 10 years.

Eligible Categories

CPSE executives in specified IDA pay scales
Joint Secretary level officers (or equivalent) in Government of India
Major General rank (or equivalent) in Armed Forces
Board-level or one-below Board-level executives in SPSE/Private Sector companies (₹1000 crore+ turnover)

Selection Process

Selection through Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC).

Application Process

Applications must be submitted in prescribed format (available on the Railway Board website).
Applications to be sent through proper channel along with Vigilance clearance and APARs (last 5 years).
Private sector applicants must attach annual reports (last 3 years), proof of board-level position, turnover details, and qualification documents.
