NEEPCO Engineers Awarded for Meritorious Service During Panyor Flash Flood

Mumbai: The 405 MW Panyor Lower Hydro Power Station (formerly Ranganadi HEP) faced an unprecedented challenge during the devastating flash flood of 24 June 2026.

For the first time since its commissioning in 2002, mud water entered the Power House.
The tailrace, including the draft tube liners, was heavily filled with silt.

Recognition for Dedicated Service

In recognition of their meritorious public service during the flash-flood situation in Papumpare District, two NEEPCO engineers were awarded commendations.

The awards were presented on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 at Yupia HQ.

 

Recipients:

  • Er. Tarh Naga, DGM (Tech)

  • Er. Gyati Mhaliyang, Assistant Manager (Civil)

The commendations were given by Shri Mamu Hage, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Yupia, Papumpare.

The recognition highlights the efforts made by NEEPCO personnel in managing the crisis at the power station during the extreme weather event.
