IAS Officer Prasanth M S Appointed Deputy Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat Under Central Staffing Scheme

New Delhi: The Government of India has approved the appointment of Shri Prasanth M S, an IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre belonging to the 2015 batch, as Deputy Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat in New Delhi.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 17, 2026, the appointment has been made under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Tamil Nadu Government Asked to Relieve Officer

The DoPT has requested the Government of Tamil Nadu to relieve Prasanth M S immediately to enable him to join his new assignment in the Cabinet Secretariat.

As per existing guidelines, officers appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme are required to assume charge within three weeks from the date of issuance of the appointment order. Failure to do so could lead to debarment from the scheme.
