ONGC Mumbai Distributes Bicycles and Academic Kits to 350 Girls on Gudi Padwa
Mumbai, March 20, 2026: In a meaningful step towards promoting girl education, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Mumbai partnered with the Centre for Transforming India to empower 350 girl students across Zilla Parishad schools in Kherane, Bhatan, and Chindhran.
The initiative, launched on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, involved the distribution of study bicycles and complete academic kits, aimed at improving access to education and enhancing student well-being.
Bridging Distance, Enabling Education
For many of these students, a daily 3-kilometre walk to school posed challenges such as fatigue, irregular attendance, and safety concerns.
With the introduction of bicycles, this journey has been transformed—making commuting easier, safer, and more empowering for young girls.
-
Bicycles provide mobility and independence
-
Academic kits ensure access to essential learning resources
-
Support system encourages regular school attendance
Driving Change Through CSR
This initiative reflects ONGC’s commitment to social responsibility and aligns with national education priorities such as National Education Policy 2020 and the broader goal of inclusive learning.
By focusing on access and dignity, the programme goes beyond infrastructure support to build confidence and aspiration among students.
Empowering Communities Through Education
The impact of such initiatives extends beyond individual beneficiaries. By enabling girls to attend school with confidence and pride, the programme contributes to:
-
Higher school attendance rates
-
Improved educational outcomes
-
Stronger community awareness around girls’ education
Each bicycle represents more than just transport—it symbolises opportunity. Each academic kit reflects a commitment to dignity. And each empowered student becomes a catalyst for change within her community.
