New Delhi: The Ministry of Education will host the 3rd Australia–India Education and Skills Council (AIESC) meeting on 8 December 2025 in New Delhi, marking another significant step in strengthening bilateral cooperation across education, research, and skill development.

The meeting will be co-chaired by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education, and Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Education. From the Australian side, the delegation will be led by Hon Jason Clare MP, Minister for Education, and Hon Andrew Giles MP, Minister for Skills & Training. Hon Julian Hill MP, Assistant Minister for International Education, will also join the high-level visit.

Key Focus Areas: Future Education Systems, Skills, and Research Partnerships

Senior delegations, experts, and officials from both nations will discuss a broad agenda covering:

  • Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)

  • Teacher education and professional development

  • Mutual Recognition of Qualifications

  • Higher education partnerships

  • Collaborative research

  • Workforce and skills development for future industries

These discussions build on the progress made after the Mutual Recognition of Qualifications (MRQ) framework signed in 2023, which simplified academic and professional mobility between the two nations.

UNSW to Receive LOI for Setting Up Campus in India

In a major development, the University Grants Commission (UGC) will issue a Letter of Intent (LoI) to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) — one of Australia’s globally ranked universities — to establish a foreign university campus in India. This step is expected to accelerate India’s vision of internationalizing higher education.

10 New Joint Research Projects Under SPARC

Under the Ministry of Education’s Scheme for Promotion of Academic Research Collaboration (SPARC), 10 new joint research projects between Indian and Australian higher educational institutions will be announced, focusing on emerging and high-impact academic areas.

New MoUs and Frameworks to be Exchanged

The two sides will exchange several MoUs and Letters of Intent (LoIs) to enhance cooperation in:

  • ECCE frameworks

  • Teacher training standards

  • Industry–academia collaboration

  • Skills and vocational training pathways

Building on Previous AIESC Milestones

The upcoming meeting builds on the momentum of the first two AIESC meetings —

  • Gandhinagar, India (2023)

  • Sydney, Australia (2024)

Both nations aim to further strengthen institutional partnerships while expanding student mobility, skilling operations, joint degrees, and research programs.

The 3rd AIESC meeting is expected to set the tone for a deeper, future-ready education and skills partnership, reflecting the growing strategic alignment between India and Australia.
