ADB Names Anthony Gill as First Country Director in Solomon Islands
Sydney, Australia | February 4, 2026 – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Anthony Gill as the inaugural Country Director of its new Solomon Islands Resident Mission in Honiara. Mr. Gill officially assumes office today and will lead ADB’s operations in the country, including implementing the Pacific Approach 2026–2030, ADB’s overarching country partnership strategy for Solomon Islands.
“I am honored to strengthen ADB’s 52-year partnership with Solomon Islands,” said Mr. Gill. “This new mission will help the country achieve its development goals by enhancing infrastructure, human capital, and private sector growth.”
A Strong Track Record of Support
Since 1973, ADB has committed 49 sovereign projects and 134 technical assistance initiatives in Solomon Islands, totaling $644 million. The current sovereign portfolio includes 10 loans and 20 grants worth $362.3 million, focusing on:

Transport infrastructure: Roads, Honiara International Port, and provincial wharves
