China Appoints New Ambassadors to Eight Countries and UN Geneva Office
Chinese President Xi Jinping has approved a new round of diplomatic appointments following a decision by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislative body, according to an official statement released on Monday.
Under the latest appointments, Jing Quan has been named China’s new ambassador to the Philippines, succeeding Huang Xilian. Shen Bo will serve as ambassador to the Netherlands, replacing Tan Jian. Jiang Wei has been appointed ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, taking over from Zhang Yanling, while Li Xiang will represent China in Mali, replacing Chen Zhihong.
China has also named Yang Xin as its new ambassador to Kuwait, succeeding Zhang Jianwei, and Zhao Yong as ambassador to Sierra Leone, replacing Wang Qing. Kang Yan has been appointed ambassador to Slovenia, taking over from Wang Shunqing, and Yang Yirui will serve as China’s new ambassador to Portugal, succeeding Zhao Bentang.
In addition, Jia Guide has been appointed Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, replacing Chen Xu.
The new appointments reflect China’s continued efforts to strengthen its diplomatic engagement and cooperation across multiple regions and international institutions.
