Countries Advise Citizens to Leave Iran as U.S. Weighs Possible Military Response

Several governments around the world have begun urging their citizens to leave Iran amid rising international concern that the United States may take military action following Iran’s deadly crackdown on anti-government protests.

The situation has triggered heightened security measures across the region. Some personnel stationed at a major U.S. military base in the Middle East have reportedly been advised to depart as a precaution, while international airlines have started rerouting flights to avoid Iranian airspace.

Trump Signals Caution, Keeps Options Open

U.S. President Donald Trump said he had received assurances from Iranian officials that the killing of protesters had stopped and that no executions were planned. He added that his administration would continue to monitor developments before deciding on further action, but did not rule out military options.

His remarks followed widespread concern over the fate of detained protesters, including reports of death sentences being issued in recent days. Rights organizations estimate that more than 2,400 demonstrators have been killed since the crackdown began, which is now occurring under a near-total communications blackout across much of the country.

Global Warnings Intensify

Multiple countries — including India, Spain and the United Kingdom — have advised their nationals to leave Iran due to escalating tensions. Several international carriers, including European and Indian airlines, have adjusted flight routes to avoid Iranian airspace.

Iran briefly closed its airspace for several hours overnight, allowing only limited international arrivals and departures with special permission. While officials did not provide a reason, the move added to fears of potential military escalation.

Military Signals From Both Sides

Senior Iranian military leadership has warned of retaliation against the United States and Israel, accusing them of involvement in the unrest. Meanwhile, influential voices in Washington continue to press for decisive action, arguing that pressure on Iran’s leadership must intensify.

Crackdown Continues Under Information Blackout

The Iranian government has imposed severe restrictions on internet and communications services as protests persist. International observers say the blackout has made it difficult to verify events on the ground, though reports of mass arrests and widespread violence continue to emerge.

With diplomatic tensions climbing and military options still under review, the region remains on edge as the crisis enters a critical phase.
