Petronet LNG Issues Force Majeure as Iran-Israel Hostilities Disrupt LNG Routes

New Delhi,  March 3, 2026: Petronet LNG Limited (CIN: L74899DL1998PLC093073) has issued a Force Majeure notice following disruptions in the Middle East, where ongoing hostilities between Iran and Israel are preventing safe maritime transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

The disruption affects LNG shipments from Ras Laffan, Qatar, the loading port of QatarEnergy. The affected LNG vessels include Disha, Raahi, and Aseem. In response, Petronet LNG has notified its off-takers—GAIL (India) Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL)—under the relevant Gas Sale and Purchase Agreements.

QatarEnergy has also indicated a potential Force Majeure due to the ongoing conflict, prompting Petronet LNG to take reciprocal action. The company emphasized that acts of war are covered under its Business Interruption Insurance, but the full impact of the Force Majeure event cannot yet be estimated.
