Indian Armed Forces began Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a government statement, the Indian Armed Forces began Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement also said, "No military installations in Pakistan have been targeted." Nonetheless, investigative agencies have connected the targeted terror groups to a number of outlawed groups, such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
“Focused strikes were carried out on nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, targeting the roots of cross-border terror planning,” said the Ministry of Defence on X.
Heavy mortar shelling was used by the Pakistan Army against forward villages in Poonch and Rajouri along the Line of Control (LoC). According to officials, reports of shelling came from the Rajouri district's Krishna Ghati, Shahpur, and Mankote, as well as Poonch's Laam, Manjakote, and Gambeer Brahmana.
The Defence Ministry said, these steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were killed. It said, armed forces are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.
Foriegn Secretary Vikram Misri in a press briefing on Wednesday said the attack was clearly driven by the objective of undermining the normalcy returning to Jammu and Kashmir.
