New Delhi: Chinese Premier Li Qiang presided over a State Council executive meeting on Friday, which focused on advancing energy conservation, carbon reduction, and the regulation of business-related administrative law enforcement.

The meeting emphasized the need for higher-standard and better-quality work in energy conservation and carbon reduction, with greater planning and consideration of local conditions. Policies are to be implemented to maximize their impact, improve market mechanisms, and accelerate the transition to green production and sustainable lifestyles.

A report on a special campaign regulating business-related administrative law enforcement noted positive results, and further efforts will be made to standardize law enforcement. A draft regulation on administrative law enforcement oversight was reviewed and approved to clarify the responsibilities of authorities and ensure consistent administrative power within a legal framework.

The meeting also discussed and approved in principle a draft law on firefighters, which will be submitted to the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. The aim is to improve the professionalism and standardization of the country’s firefighting force and strengthen fire safety management to prevent major accidents.

Additionally, the Council arranged a crackdown on tobacco-related illegal activities, emphasizing stricter supervision and law enforcement to improve the tobacco market environment.
