Central Coalfields signs MoU with PVUNL for optimum use of thermal waste
Coal PSU, Central Coalfields Ltd and PVUNL had announced a strategic collaboration towards environmental sustainability by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) on May 3, 2025.
Following mining of the Dakara Open Cast Project (NK area, CCL), fly ash will be utilised in mine voids in a safe and scientific manner. Through the use of thermal power waste, such as fly ash, as a resource, this project will encourage the regeneration of mining land, strengthening land restoration while also lessening its negative effects on the environment.
This occasion was attended by PVUNL CEO Mr. R.K. Singh, CCL Director Technical/Operation Mr. Chandra Shekhar Tiwari, and Director (Project & Planning) Mr. Shankar Nagachari. In addition to advancing "Green Mining," this partnership will serve as a model for turning materials like fly ash into resources.
PVUNL (Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited) is a joint venture of a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd with shareholding of 74% and Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) with shareholding of 26%.
