New Delhi: State-owned power company SJVN Limited has signed a key partnership with Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) in Shimla. The two organisations have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop an advanced research ecosystem for solar photovoltaic (PV) technology.
The agreement was signed in the presence of HPU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mahavir Singh and SJVN Director (Personnel) Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma. The signatories were Sh. Prakash Chand, General Manager (Electrical Design) from SJVN, and Sh. Gyan Sagar Negi, Registrar of HPU.
This collaborative research and development (R&D) project is set to run for 36 months. SJVN will provide a financial outlay of ₹4.15 crore for the initiative. The work will be carried out through HPU's Centre for Green Energy and Nanotechnology (C-GENT).
The primary goal of this industry-academia partnership is to improve the performance, reliability, and overall lifespan of solar PV systems. The project will focus on promoting innovation and enabling AI-based predictive diagnostics for solar installations.
This MoU reinforces SJVN's commitment to fostering innovation, supporting sustainability, and strengthening India's renewable energy sector through meaningful collaboration between industry and academic institutions.
