Coal Minister and Assam CM discussed issues concerning coal and mining sector
Both Ministers had a productive discussion, with a shared understanding of the importance of strengthening coal supply chain to facilitate Assam’s energy security and support of the State Government.

New Delhi, May 27, 2025: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, met Hon’ble Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, today at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi.
The meeting centred around key issues concerning the coal and mining sector in Assam, with particular emphasis on securing coal linkage for upcoming thermal power project and the development of renewable power projects in the State. The discussion also focused on facilitating smoother coordination for ongoing and future initiatives aimed at strengthening Assam’s energy and industrial infrastructure.

Both Ministers had a productive discussion, with a shared understanding of the importance of strengthening coal supply chain to facilitate Assam’s energy security and support of the State Government required by NIRL Assam Renewable Limited (NARL) to execute the RE projects. The Ministry of Coal reiterated its commitment to extend support to the State Government for the timely execution of its power infrastructure initiatives.
