NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the Government of Mizoram, convened a stakeholder consultation on strengthening and enhancing the value chain of Mizoram’s ginger produce at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 24 November.

The consultation was graced by Shri Lalduhoma, Chief Minister of Mizoram, and Dr. Vinod K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog. It brought together key stakeholders, including Ministers from the State, senior officials from Central Ministries and State Departments, government bodies, industry representatives, and experts from academia, research institutions, and the export sector.

 

The Consultation focused on ensuring quality and authenticity of ginger produce, promoting local value addition through technology adoption, strengthening forward linkages, and fostering institutional and academic collaborations. Participants also underscored the importance of accessing global markets and establishing an expert-led State-level task force to drive key initiatives and partnerships.

The consultation represents a pivotal step in positioning Mizoram as the Ginger Capital of India, through a focused approach on quality assurance, standardisation, product uniqueness and authenticity, supported by strengthened inter-ministerial convergence to advance the State’s ginger ecosystem.
