PM Modi to inaugurate Rs 11,000-crore highway projects in Delhi on August 17
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Delhi’s Dwarka Expressway section and UER-II corridor on August 17. The Rs 11,000-crore projects aim to decongest Delhi, improve connectivity, and boost economic growth in NCR.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major highway projects that will cost around Rs11,000 crore in Delhi on August 17. The inauguration will take place in Rohini at around 12:30 p.m. and post that the Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public gathering.
The Project included major Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Alipur-Dichaon Kalan stretch of the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II).
Both of the initiatives will be part of the government’s broader plan to decongest the capital, enhance multi-modal connectivity, and reduce travel time across the National Capital Region (NCR).
Built at a cost of around Rs 5,360 crore, the 10.1km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway corridor will connect Yashobhoomi, the Delhi Metro’s Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster bus depot.
This will be divided into two packages, a 5.9-km stretch from Shiv Murti intersection to Dwarka Sector-21 and a 4.2-km stretch up to the Delhi-Haryana border, linking directly with UER-II. The Haryana section of the expressway, covering 19 km, was inaugurated by Modi in March 2024.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the UER-II section from Alipur to Dichaon Kalan along with new spurs to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, and this would be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 5,580 crore.

This corridor will expectedly reduce the pressure on Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads and major choke points such as Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09. The project will also provide improved industrial connectivity and faster movement of goods in the NCR.
The projects are demonstrated as vital to build world-class infrastructure in the capital region, improving the ease of living for citizens, and boosting economic activity through better transport links.
