NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated the 79th Independence Day with flag hoisting, cultural performances, employee awards, and community participation, echoing the spirit of “Har Ghar Tiranga.”
NTPC Bongaigaon joined the nation in celebrating the 79th Independence Day with great fervour, echoing the spirit of “Har Ghar Tiranga” at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium of the 750 MW power station.
The celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Shri Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head of the power station followed by a parade inspection by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and DGR Security Services. In his address, Shri Maitra highlighted NTPC Bongaigaon’s consistent achievements in Operations and Maintenance and its positive standing on the state and national power map. He noted that the station had maintained robust generation performance with high plant availability. The last financial year witnessed a healthy PLF, the longest continuous operation of Unit-2 since inception at 319 days, uninterrupted coal supplies ensuring operational stability, and record annual ash utilisation. Shri Maitra lauded the collective efforts of employees, departments, and partners, urging them to continue adopting best practices, driving innovation, and strengthening CSR,environment, medical and safety initiatives.

The event featured an engaging cultural segment presented by schoolchildren from Ankur Tiny Tots,Bal Bhawan and Notre Dame Academy, NTPC Bongaigaon. Dressed in colourful traditional and patriotic attire, the young performers showcased a vibrant mix of songs, dances, and skits that reflected India’s unity in diversity. Their lively presentations drew warm applause from the audience and filled the stadium with festive cheer. The celebration also included the release of tri-colour balloons by Shri Maitra along with senior officials and members of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, symbolising freedom and hope.
Shri Maitra presented the prestigious HOP Meritorious Awards to 45 employees for their contribution in their respective areas, Health Champion Awards (2024–25) to 7 employees and recognition of 10 employees under the Aawahan Policy, for achievements in cycling and walking competitions organised by the Sports Council.
The event was graced by Smt. Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, senior NTPC officials, Shri L N Meitei, Commandant,CISF, Shri Amit K Asthana, Head of HR, departmental heads, union and association members, welfare bodies, and employees with their families.

Earlier in the day, Shri Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), also hoisted the National Flag at the service building in the presence of employees and Smt. Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club hoisted the tricolour flag in the ladies club and Ankur Tiny Tots school premises and Sister Manju Joseph, Principal of Notre Dame Academy hoisted the flag at the school premises.
