Kamesh Kasana takes charge as BEL’s new Director (Other Units), bringing over 30 years of defence electronics experience.

Bangalore, 15 July 2025. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has appointed Shri Kamesh Kasana (DIN: 11194293) as Director (Other Units), effective from 14 July 2025. The Ministry of Defence approved this appointment in an official letter dated 14 July 2025. Shri Kasana’s promotion to the Board of Directors follows a distinguished 30-year career at BEL, where he has been crucial in enhancing India’s defence electronics capabilities.

Shri Kamesh Kasana joined BEL in 1993 and has gained extensive experience in defence systems engineering, program management, and strategic leadership. He graduated from NIT Kurukshetra with a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. He also earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and holds certifications in Six Sigma (Green Belt, DMAIC) and Project Management Professional (PMP). His leadership has driven BEL’s efforts in indigenization, modernization, and the development of critical technology, especially in defence communication and command systems.

In his prior role as General Manager and Business Head of the Military Communication Strategic Business Unit at BEL’s Bengaluru Complex, Shri Kasana led significant changes. The unit reached a turnover of over Rs1000 crore in a short time by restructuring operations, encouraging product innovation, and improving customer engagement. His strategic initiatives enabled BEL to complete large projects on time, build stronger customer trust, and support sustainable business growth.

He also led key projects for the Indian Army and Navy, including the Akashteer Air Defence Control and Reporting System and advanced C4I systems for naval platforms.

As Director (Other Units), Shri Kasana is expected to guide BEL’s various units to become global leaders in technology, innovation, and sustainability. His vision includes speeding up research and development in advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, quantum communication, autonomous systems, and space technologies. He aims to strengthen BEL’s partnerships with DRDO, ISRO, private industry, MSMEs, and global defence partners to create a strong and competitive ecosystem. With a focus on operational excellence, green energy, and modern manufacturing, Shri Kasana’s leadership aligns with BEL’s long-term goals and the national mission of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

According to the official statement, Shri Kasana has no conflict of interest with existing BEL directors and is not disqualified under Section 164 of the Companies Act, 2013. His appointment is for five years or until further notice, whichever comes first. This leadership change aims to advance BEL’s mission for self-reliance in defence electronics and strengthen India’s national security through innovative and homegrown solutions.
