ONGC Appoints Ashish Bhatnagar and Debasish Mukherjee as Executive Directors
New Delhi: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), India’s largest oil and gas exploration company, has announced the appointment of two senior executives as Executive Directors, effective January 20, 2026. The disclosure was made in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The appointments were officially communicated to the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE Limited, highlighting a change in ONGC’s senior management.
Key Appointments at ONGC
As per the regulatory filing, the following executives have joined ONGC as Executive Directors (one level below the Board):
Ashish Bhatnagar – Executive Director
Shri Ashish Bhatnagar is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Jodhpur University. He began his career at ONGC as an Assistant Executive Engineer (Mechanical) in Mehsana. Over a distinguished career spanning 36 years, he has served across multiple ONGC locations including Mehsana, Nazira, Dehradun, Mumbai, ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL), and Delhi. His extensive operational and leadership experience strengthens ONGC’s senior management team.
Debasish Mukherjee – Executive Director
Shri Debasish Mukherjee holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, an MBA from IGNOU, and a PhD in Management from Amity University, Noida. He joined ONGC as a Materials Management Officer in Dehradun and has served in key locations such as Dehradun, Chennai, Delhi, and Jorhat. With 35 years of professional experience, his expertise spans materials management, administration, and strategic operations.

The appointments reflect ONGC’s continued focus on strengthening leadership through experienced internal talent. Both executives bring decades of domain knowledge and organizational experience, which is expected to support ONGC’s operational efficiency and long-term growth strategy.
