Railway Board Appoints Abhinav Bansal as Manager at CRIS on 5-Year Deputation
New Delhi, March 9, 2026: The Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) has approved the deputation of Abhinav Bansal, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), to the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) in New Delhi.
According to an official order issued by the Railway Board, Abhinav Bansal, currently serving as Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Sr. DME) in Eastern Railway, has been selected for the role of Manager/CMM at CRIS.
Five-Year Deputation Term
The deputation will be for a period of five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The appointment is subject to the Government’s approval for exemption from the rule of immediate absorption for CRIS.
The Railway Board has instructed Eastern Railway to relieve the officer at the earliest so that he can take up his new assignment in New Delhi.
Role at CRIS
Centre for Railway Information Systems is the technology arm of Indian Railways responsible for developing and maintaining major IT systems for railway operations, ticketing, and digital services.
With this deputation, Abhinav Bansal will contribute to the organisation’s technology-driven initiatives aimed at modernising railway information systems.
The order was issued by Roshan Kumari Meena, Under Secretary (Deputation), Railway Board, from Rail Bhavan in New Delhi.
