Steel Authority of India Appoints Pranoy Roy as New Independent Director
SAIL welcomes Shri Pranoy Roy as Independent Director for a 3-year term

New Delhi. Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna public sector company under the Ministry of Steel, has announced the appointment of Shri Pranoy Roy as an Independent Director on its Board. The decision was approved on July 8, 2025, after the Government of India formally nominated him via an order dated July 3, 2025.

Shri Roy will serve a term of three years, or until further notice, whichever comes first. In its filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange, SAIL confirmed that Shri Roy is not prohibited from holding the office of director by any ruling from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or any other regulatory body.

The appointment follows Regulation 30 of SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements. SAIL has also submitted a brief profile of Shri Roy with the corporate filing.

This action reflects the government’s efforts to improve corporate governance and leadership in major central public sector companies.

About Shri Pranoy Roy:
Shri Pranoy Roy, around 54 years old, is an experienced Tax and Legal Consultant with over 25 years in Corporate Law, NGO Compliance, CSR Advisory, FCRA Regulations, and Income Tax matters. He holds degrees in Commerce and Law (B.Com, LLB) and has been a trusted advisor to many companies and non-governmental organizations throughout India.

During his career, Shri Roy has helped clients create compliant and tax-efficient entities. He has guided them through the tricky legal requirements for FCRA registration and renewals, managed CSR obligations, and addressed scrutiny under the Income Tax Act. His strong grasp of regulatory frameworks and hands-on approach has made him a sought-after expert in both corporate and developmental sectors.

In addition to his professional work, Shri Roy is an active social worker. He contributes significantly to community development programs, legal awareness campaigns, and grassroots capacity building.
