Kolkata, February 3, 2026:
The Ministry of Railways has assigned additional charge of the post of Director (RS&T) at Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL) to Shri Susanta Sarkar, IRSSE, pending approval of the competent authority.
According to an official communication issued by the Railway Board, Shri Susanta Sarkar, who is currently serving as Principal Chief Signal & Telecommunication Engineer (PCSTE), Metro Railway, Kolkata, will hold the additional responsibility with effect from the date of assumption of charge.
Tenure Details
The additional charge will continue until the completion of the project, superannuation of the officer, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. KMRCL has been requested to intimate the date of assumption of charge to the Ministry.
Shri Susanta Sarkar, an Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) officer, was born on January 9, 1969, and brings extensive technical and operational experience in railway signaling and telecom systems.
Strengthening Metro Rail Projects
The move is expected to ensure continuity and effective oversight of Rolling Stock & Signalling and Telecommunications (RS&T) functions at KMRCL, which plays a key role in the implementation of metro rail projects in Kolkata.
The order has been issued by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) and circulated to concerned railway and government departments for information and necessary action.
