Coal Minister dedicates Jhanjra expansion project to nation
The Minister dedicated the Jhanjra expansion project (5.0 MTY) underground coal mine, which has a depth of 225 mtr below the surface.

New Delhi: Union Minister of Coal and Mines Shri Pralhad Joshi on November 24, 2022, visited the Jhanjra underground mine of Eastern Coalfields Limited (A subsidiary of Coal India).
The Minister dedicated the Jhanjra expansion project (5.0 MTY) underground coal mine, which has a depth of 225 mtr below the surface. At 3.5 million tonnes per year capacity, this is the highest coal-producing mechanised underground mine in India.
Production capacity has been increased by more than 2 million tonnes per year to further boost coal production from the mine. Two low-height continuous miners are to be introduced.
Moreover, a Coal Handling Plant of 5 MTY capacity and a Railway Corridor is under construction for increasing coal offtake.
