 Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL) has appointed South West Mining Limited (SWML) as the Mine Developer cum Operator (MDO) for reopening and expansion of Rakha Copper Mine, development of a new underground mine at Chapri and commissioning of a new concentrator plant for 20 years, extendable by another 10 years, after successful tender action.

The Mining Services Agreement was signed between M/s Hindustan Copper Limited and M/s South West Mining Limited in Ranchi in the august presence of Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal and Mines, along with Shri Ghanshyam Sharma, CMD, HCL, Shri Sanjiv Kumar Singh, Director (Mining), HCL, Shri Vivek Sharma, Director, MoM, Shri Anil Sood, Whole Time Director, SWML, Shri Abhishek Jain, CFO, SWML, Shri Sanjay Singh, AVP (Operations & Projects), SWML, Shri S S Sethi, ED, ICC/HCL, and other senior officials.

The Letter of Award (LoA) was issued to M/s South West Mining Limited (SWML) on 25.11.2024. The total capital expenditure (CAPEX) for this project is estimated to be approximately INR 2,700 crore. The direct and indirect employment will be around 10,000, as per the release.
