New Delhi: India and Germany significantly strengthened their strategic economic partnership on Monday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz met leading business executives from both nations at the India–Germany CEOs Forum in Ahmedabad.

Addressing a joint press conference after the meeting, Prime Minister Modi announced that bilateral trade between India and Germany has crossed the USD 50 billion mark for the first time, underscoring the rapid expansion of commercial ties between the two major economies.

He highlighted the strong presence of German industry in India, noting that more than 2,000 German companies are currently operating in the country — a reflection of growing global confidence in India’s long-term economic potential.

“This confidence was clearly visible at today’s CEOs Forum,” the Prime Minister said, pointing to the enthusiastic participation of business leaders from both countries.
