15-Year-Old Rajhara Colliery in Jharkhand Reopened, Set to Boost Coal Production and Employment
New Delhi: The Rajhara Colliery in the Rajhara Area of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) was officially reopened today with a ceremonial puja and inauguration, marking the revival of a coal project that had been closed for approximately 15 years.
The reopening is expected to generate significant new employment opportunities for the youth of Jharkhand and across India, while strengthening domestic coal production and enhancing the nation's energy security.
A Boost for Energy Security and Regional Development
Officials stated that the colliery will play a crucial role in regional development, industrial progress, and nation-building by aligning with the vision of an Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) Bharat.
"It was stated that under the visionary leadership of the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the coal and mining sector is continuously becoming more modern, transparent, and self-reliant. The revival of the Rajhara Colliery will give new momentum to the resolve of a self-reliant India," a press note said.
Dignitaries Present at the Event
The event was attended by the Honorable Member of Parliament from Palamu, Shri Vishnu Dayal Ram, along with senior officials from Central Coalfields Limited.
The revival of this mining asset is part of the government's broader strategy to ramp up domestic coal production to meet the country's growing energy demands and reduce dependency on imports.
