DVC set to commence work on 1600 MW supercritical thermal power plant in Jharkhand
The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) will soon start work on its 1600-MW supercritical thermal power plant at Chandrapura in Jharkhand’s Bokaro, an official said. "The establishment of two 800 MW supercritical units has received in-principle approval from the Centre," Vijaya Nand Sharma, Senior General Manager and Project Head, DVC, said to reporters.
According to Sharma, the project's work will shortly start. A total of Rs 16,500 crore will be invested in the project, and all environmental regulations and guidelines will be adhered to.
This unit will have cutting-edge technology and be ultramodern. "It will be more efficient than the old plant," he stated. A 500 MW power station is now in operation in Chandrapura.
The project will provide direct and indirect employment to people in the region, Sharma added.
